LRC Honors the Life and Legacy of Kenneth Elliott

June 9, 2025 | Capital City SDA Church, Indianapolis, IN

On Sunday, June 8, 2025, the Lake Region Conference family—administrators, pastors, well-wishers, and friends—gathered at Capital City Seventh-day Adventist Church in Indianapolis to honor and celebrate the life of Pastor Kenneth Elliott, who passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2025.

In a spirit of reverence and reflection, heartfelt tributes were shared, recounting Pastor Elliott’s many gifts, his unwavering commitment to ministry, and his enduring impact as a colleague, mentor, and friend. Stories of his humor, compassion, and dedication painted the portrait of a faithful servant who loved deeply and served joyfully. He was the ministerial director of Lake Region Conference.

Elder Garth Gabriel, President of the Lake Region Conference, delivered a powerful eulogy, reminding the congregation that even in moments of sorrow, it is still good to praise God—because He is still God. His words offered hope and encouragement amid grief.

The service featured remarks from esteemed leaders and friends, including:

  • The Lake Region Conference Administrators, Area Leaders and Ministerial Spouses Association

  • Dr. R. Clifford Jones, former LRC President and current Dean of Theology at Oakwood University

  • Jerome Davis, former LRC President

  • William Cox, Executive Director of the Regional Conference Retirement Plan

  • Yvonne Collins, CFO of the Regional Conference Retirement Plan

  • Elden Ramirez, President of the Lake Union Conference

  • Carmelo Mercado, General Vice President of the Lake Union Conference

Though the occasion was one of remembrance and mourning, it was also filled with thanksgiving—praising God for a life well lived in service to others and to the Kingdom of God.

Our deepest thoughts and prayers remain with Monique Elliott, their children, and grandchildren. May God’s peace and comfort continue to surround them in the days ahead.

Special thanks to Pastor Eliot Brooks and the Capital City SDA Church for their warm hospitality for the day.
