Lake Region Conference Announces Dr. Abraham Henry as Interim President
Chicago, IL — January 12, 2026
The Lake Region Conference is pleased to announce that Dr. Abraham Henry has assumed the role of Interim President, effective January 2, 2026. Dr. Henry will continue to carry out his responsibilities as Executive Secretary while serving in this interim capacity. Dr. Henry is serving as the Interim President while Lake Region Conference prayerfully navigates the presidential selection process for the remainder term, which ends on August 9, 2026. The LRC Executive Committee voted to support his leadership during this interim period.
Dr. Henry shared, “As someone who has served in the great Lake Region Conference I look forward to mobilizing our members for mission, to be loving, serving, teaching and preaching as we work together and watch God expand the field.” He remains prayerful for God’s leading during this unique time. Dr. Henry approaches leadership as a sacred calling, shaped by prayer, Scripture, and a multitude of council.
During Henry’s undergraduate years, he majored in theology and minored in biblical studies at Oakwood University. He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from City College of New York and a Master of Divinity from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University. He completed the Doctor of Ministry degree, with a concentration in strategic leadership, from Claremont School of Theology and a Master of Business Administration degree from Louisiana State University. He holds a certification in Human Resource Transformation from Cornell University and is a Senior Certified Professional from the Society of Human Resource Management.
Dr. Henry has served the Lake Region Conference as volunteer Pathfinder Executive Coordinator, Youth and Young Adult Director, Human Resources Director, and Associate Executive Secretary and now Executive Secretary. In addition, he has served as interim pastor for numerous churches across the Lake Region Conference territory.
Dr. Henry brings a deep commitment to collaborative leadership and service. He is dedicated to working closely with every pastor, church, employee, and constituent across the Lake Region Conference. We remain prayerful and confident that his leadership will continue to advance the Conference’s vision to Multiply by Mission, ensuring a strong focus on spiritual growth, outreach, and organizational excellence. With a heart for ministry and a steady approach to leadership, Dr. Henry looks forward to supporting the work of the Conference and strengthening partnerships throughout the region. He enjoys doing ministry with his wife, Rebecca, to whom he has been married for more than a decade.
