Executive Secretary | Timothy Nixon DMin
Timothy Nixon was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Oakwood University with a B.A. in Theology and from Andrews University with his M.Div., degree. He began his Pastoral ministry in the Northeastern Conference in June 1981 and ordained to the Gospel ministry in 1987.
Dr. Nixon has served throughout the North American Division from the east coast to the west. He has witnessed God’s Spirit increase stewardship, produce record baptisms, renovated church edifices which led to spiritual revivals, raised up small group ministries, established training centers for lay evangelism and inaugurated the “Your Bible Speaks” radio broadcast.
As the Hand of God guided the Nixon family through a fruitful ministry, he was called to serve as the Administrative Chaplain & Associate Pastor of the Pioneer Memorial Church. As Chaplain he served as the sponsor of a student-led worship service on the Campus of Andrews University called New Life Fellowship, where he soon led out as its Senior Pastor.
An accomplished academic, Dr. Nixon has done advanced studies in Clinical Pastoral Education and doctoral course work in Marriage, Family & Child Counseling (MFCC). He obtained his DMin. degree in 2010 from Andrews University.
Dr. Nixon loves to evangelize as well as share his knowledge of the field with fellow colleagues in ministry. He has taught various courses on youth ministry, leadership, public evangelism and evangelistic preaching at the SDA Theological Seminary as well as the undergraduate Religion Department of Andrews University.
On May 18, 2014, the constituency of the Lake Region Conference of Seventh-day Adventists recognized the gifts God has placed within Dr. Nixon and elected him to serve as the Executive Secretary of the Lake Region Conference of Seventh-day Adventist.
Dr. Nixon is married to the wife of his youth for 30 years, the former Sandria Lalasingh. She is a registered nurse and has served in that field for over 30 years. In May of 2010 she completed her Doctoral degree in Nursing. The Nixon’s have two adult children, Michael, an attorney in the State of New York, recently married in August 2013 to the former Tacyana Behrmann, a pastor in the New Jersey Conference. From this union the Nixon’s have their first grandchild, a baby girl named Noa Elise born March 2015. Their daughter Camille is a Junior at Andrew University, majoring in Psychology & Spanish.
Dr. Nixon’s strives daily to live by his favorite text; “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8.
