ABOUT LRC NEWEST PASTORAL TEAM MEMBERS | LRC NEWS

The Lake Region Conference is excited about our pastors. They are the life blood of our workforce. It is by their God given abilities we are able to minister to all the members within this region of the Lord’s vineyard. The Lake Region Conference Executive Committee, in various sessions this year, approved the hiring of five new pastors and it is our privilege to share briefly with you who they are:

Pastor White was born in Pittsburgh, PA. He has 4 siblings. His younger brother is also a pastor serving in the Allegheny West Conference. Pastor White holds a B.A. in Theology from Columbia Union College (now Washington Adventist University), a MDiv from Andrews Theological Seminary, a MBA from Washington Adventist University and is currently working towards a PhD in Religious Education at Andrews University.

Pastor White is married to the former Dr. Susan Woolford. They met while he was conducting a Youth Summit seminar at Northern Philadelphia Seventh-day Adventist Church. He and his wife accepted the call from Allegheny West Conference, where he served as a pastor for over 9 years. This fall he will be serving as a full-time pastor of both the Community Fellowship SDA in Lathrup Village, MI and the Living Water SDA Church in Southfield, MI.

Pastor Christopher M. Clark Sr. was born on the Westside of Chicago where he was raised by his mother (Annie Jacobs) and stepfather (Robert Jacobs). He graduated from Prosser Vocational High School in 1993 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in July 1996. He served for seven years and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.

Pastor Clark was baptized into the Independence Boulevard Seventh-day Adventist Church in November 2005. Since then he has served faithfully as a Deacon and Elder. He is currently pursuing his MDiv Degree at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI. He is married to his Queen and high school sweetheart, Ebony Clark since 1999. They have one child, 14 year old Christopher M. Clark Jr.

Pastor Clark’s favorite Scripture can be found in Isaiah 6:8;  “Also, I heard the voice of the Lord saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” This fall he will be serving as a full-time pastor of both the Robbins SDA Church in Robbins, IL and the All Nations Holy Temple SDA Church in Gary, IN.

Pastor Juan Rivas has served as a minister for the Seventh-day Adventist Church for over 18 years. He is a graduate from the Venezuelan Theological Adventist Seminary with a Bachelor in Theology and is pursuing his MDiv degree from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI.

Pastor Rivas has worked in Venezuela and the United States, with the support of his beloved wife Carmen and their children Veronica and Samuel, who has been an instrumental support in his ministry. Pastor Rivas is passionate about sharing God’s love. He daily shares that love with everyone God allows to cross his path. Pastor Rivas will serving as a part-time pastor at the Dowagiac Hispanic SDA Church in Dowagiac, MI.

Pastor Kevin Rogers was born in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands to Lynch and Genevieve Rogers. He received his elementary and high school education at the St. Thomas-St. John Seventh-day Adventist School. He was baptized at the age of ten; however, it was at sixteen, in the midst of those turbulent adolescent years, that the Holy Spirit touched his heart with a conversion experience that forever changed the direction of his life.

After graduating from high school, Pastor Rogers entered the electrical engineering program at Walla Walla University. Although he was enjoying calculus, physics, electronics and so forth…the Lord had other plans. While serving as a student literature evangelist in Portland, OR,  after his sophomore year, he felt God’s call to full-time ministry.

Pastor Rogers graduated from Walla Walla University, with a BA Degree in Theology, and at Andrews University, with a Master of Divinity. His pride and joy is Mernetha, his wife of 27 years and partner in ministry. The Rogers have two sons, Karsten and Ahsan. Karsten graduated from Oakwood University in May 2018 with a BA in Theology. He is currently serving as a pastor in Central States Conference. Ahsan is a sophomore at Oakwood University.

Pastor Rogers has pastored 7 churches in Oregon and Washington States for 29 years. He is passionate about reaching people, families and young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ, helping them to experience restoration and wholeness by the power of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Kevin Rogers accepted the call from Washington Conference and is currently serving as a full-time pastor at the Capitol City SDA Church in Indianapolis, IN.

Pastor Dennis Elisha Akawobsa was born in Sandema, Ghana. He is the second of four siblings. He was raised in a Catholic home until he accepted the Adventist faith at the age of 13. Because he became an Adventist, his family disowned him, but his faith did not waiver. He enrolled at Valley View University as a student and in 2004 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology.

He served in Ghana as a school and hospital chaplain and youth pastor. While pastoring in a Muslim-dominated district he planted 16 new churches and conducted 40 evangelistic series. His four-year ministry in northern Ghana led to 1,500 Muslims accepting the Advent Message and being baptized.

Pastor Akawobsa was ordained to the gospel ministry in December 2008. Pastor Akawobsa continued his ministerial training at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary and received his Mdiv degree in 2013. He also holds a MA Degree in Religion, specializing in systematic theology. He is married to Lilian Akawobsa who currently works at Andrews University’s Department of Human Resources.  The couple is blessed with two children, Janette and Joshua. Pastor Akawobsa is currently serving as a part-time pastor at the Ghanaian SDA Church in Niles, MI.
